Young BBE organizes networking activities, such as company/site visits and workshops to stimulate the collaboration of young professionals whose work has a link with bio-based economy. After visits at DSM Delft, the Port of Rotterdam Neste Oil, and Suiker Unie, the next company we will visit is the Green Chemistry Campus, part of SABIC.
SABIC, headquartered in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), is one of the world’s top 6 petrochemical companies and is the largest non-oil company in the Middle East. SABIC’s Innovative Plastics business is a leading, global supplier of engineering thermoplastics with an 80-year history of breakthrough solutions that solve its customers’ most pressing challenges. Today, Innovative Plastics is a multi-billion-dollar company with operations in more than 35 countries and over 9,000 employees worldwide. The company’s extensive product portfolio includes thermoplastic resins, coatings, specialty compounds, film and sheet. The European head office of the Innovative Plastics Business is located in Bergen op Zoom. Around 1300 employees are spread over different departments like manufacturing, supply chain T&I, functional and commercial departments. The manufacturing site has 8 different production units; chemical, compounding and film and sheet operations.
The young SABIC professionals from this location are hosting this event in collaboration with the Green Chemistry Campus. YSP is an association founded for and run by young SABIC employees with a higher educational level and below 10 years of professional experience. Their members are spread over the different departments.
The Green Chemistry Campus, on the premises of SABIC in Bergen op Zoom, is an incubator and ‘business accelerator’. Here, companies active in agricultural chemistry and – innovation can take the step from the laboratory to fullscale production and does scientific knowledge actually come to life. The Green Chemistry Campus connects, accelerates and valorizes. Participants in Green Chemistry Campus are: SABIC, REWIN West-Brabant, the Province of North-Brabant and the Municipality of Bergen op Zoom.
